Plastic Surgery Injection Options

Looking younger is a goal many people want to achieve - and today, you have many different plastic surgery options to reach that goal. From facelifts to laser resurfacing, there are tons of ways to make you look your best. If you don't like the idea of a long recovery time however, there is another option.

There are several types of plastic surgery that are more popular than others. Perhaps the most popular types of plastic surgery are those that don't involve any surgery at all. These surgeries are actually done with needles instead of knives, and can be done on an outpatient basis in doctor's offices.

Unlike traditional plastic surgery, which requires patients to go to a hospital or an outpatient surgery clinic, these procedures usually are done right in the office, without any prior preparation necessary. No anesthesia is needed, and the patient can go right about their normal business within the same day.

Botox is usually used to fight wrinkles in patients of any age who feel that they might have a few too many lines around their brow or above their brow line. These lines can be caused by frowning, or just by aging. They can occur at any age, but usually occur after age 40.

Another popular cosmetic plastic surgery injectable is Botox. Derived from the botulism toxin, this injectable has the ability to paralyze facial muscles where it is injected. It is most often injected into the brow line, where it serves to smooth out the muscles of the brow.

The purpose of smoothing brow muscles is to release the wrinkles that develop here - often called frown lines. While Botox is excellent at removing these wrinkles, it is not meant for use on wrinkles in other areas of the face, and will not work on these areas lower on the face.

A final cosmetic injectable is Restylane. This injectable, also known as hyaluronic acid, is a filler - it can be used to fill in wrinkles around the mouth area. These wrinkles are usually known as laugh lines, and it can also be used to fill in small feather lines around the lips.

There are other injectable plastic surgery items - collagen, and other chemicals and fillers that can be used to plump lips, fill in other wrinkles and smooth the texture of your face. All of these treatments can be discussed with a board certified plastic surgeon, who can let you know if they are right for you.

Make sure to consult with a plastic surgeon who has a lot of experience with these injectable substances before getting any of this work done, and research your options before getting an injection. While easier than surgery, there are still risks - so make sure only a doctor performs the procedure.
