Ingenious Mouse Trap

I heard this idea from someone and it just has to work. It approaches exactly what the mice like, and it is a no fail catch when the mouse goes for the bait. So, if you want to catch a mouse without having a traditional mousetrap here is how to do it. Only problem I see is the mouse still needs to be disposed of, as it is still alive.

I guess there are two ways this mouse trap will work, one by setting this up on a chair or on the counter and having the "trap" be a trash can or bucket.

The method employs making some kind of access ramp, unless it's done on a counter, and a level surface to serve as the baiting surface.

Take a toilet paper, or paper towel tube and flatten one side so it lies down without rolling and is like a little tunnel. Here is where you are supplying the mouse with someting that it likes and feels comfy and safe in, which is a nice warm little mouse tunnel.

Place your bait at one end, right at the opening. Peanut butter should do the trick, or cheese.

Now balance the tube right on the edge of your baiting surface, so the bait itself is dangling off the edge but the mouse has good access to the entry side of the tube. Be sure that the tube is ready to tip and fall as soon as the weight of the mouse gets to the edge of your surface, whether it be the countertop or chair edge, or whatever you come up with.

Place a trash can, bucket or some other receptacle that is high enough (and empty) so that the mouse cannot climb out of it right underneath the mouse tunnel so mouse and all will fall into it.

Leave the room and wait for the mouse to enter the tunnel. When it does the mouse's weight will tip the tube over the precipice and into the bucket.

Of course you could always fill the bucket just over mouse deep with water and have a dead mouse rather than a live mouse upon your return.

I was told this is a fool proof mouse trap.
