Lapsang Souchong

A fine smoky flavored tea from China. Lapsang Souchong, is a black tea from China. Originally it came from the Fujian province. This small area of China is incapable of producing enough Lapsang Souchong so it is consequently produced in other areas of the world, including the US with a great deal produced in Taiwan.

There is a quite unique process of creating it's wonderful smoky taste and aroma. Generally larger leaves are used, and frequently of larger leafed teas. The tea is dried over a wood fire which provides the smoky flavor. Generally pine is the wood of choice, and is the original wood fire used to dry the tea in China.
