Laminate - In the Printing Industry, a thin transparent plastic coating applied to paper or board to provide protection and give it a glossy finish.
In woodworking and home remodeling the term refers to a thin topping often seen as a countertop where a plastic laminate is glued onto a substrate. Also with wood veneers glued onto a substrate.
